Stock Trading  V/s Options Trading

1. Expiry

You have limited time to be right while trading options as all the OTM options become worthless on the day of Expiry. With stocks, you have infinite time to be right as far as the stock remains listed.

2. Volatility

Options are highly volatile instruments. Their value changes much quickly (Percentage wise) as compared to stocks. This can lead to high rewards but it also has higher risk.

3. Trading

You can only benefit by trading up or down (Intraday Only) movement in stocks. With options, you can trade up, down as well as sideways movement.

4. Dividend

Stocks can pay out dividend. Owning call options of the same stocks will not yield dividends. (Nor put options)

5. Ownership

You own a piece of the company by owning stocks. Options do not give you any ownership.
